What is a extra IPA? It’s an IPA that has all the hoppy goodness of a double IPA combined with the drinkability of a standard IPA. Stoney Lonesome is brewed with local malt from Barn Owl Malt and local hops from Pleasant Valley Hops in the county.
For those not familiar with the area of Belleville that used to be called Stoney Lonesome it’s now generally agreed on as the Hill Crest area of the city. There are a number of legends, and some debate, about where and how the area got it’s name but our favorite yarn involves a chance comment during a train ride. The story goes that long ago a member of the royal family (we don’t know which royal family) looking at the scenery as they travelled through what is now Belleville remarked to the members of the train car that the place appeared stony and lonesome . . . sounds plausible.
